Sub: Utilisation of services of eligible Gramin Dak Sevaks as Postal Assistants against vacancies on pro-rata basis.

Sir,

     We offer our own suggestion on the subject with we hope that be duly considered.

    Though the educational qualification for appointment as Gramin Sevaks is standard 10 from a recopnised university/board, it is a fact that persons with higher degree ie 10+12, graduation and master degree holders are working as GDS. The majority of the GDS are experts and efficient in computer handling. Their experience as G.D.S. provides knowledge of handling postal business like S.B.. money order or registration etc.

We are aware that there are vacancies in the cadre of postal Assistants and work suffers. We feel that it will be worthwhile to utilise the services of GDS as P.A. against vacancies. For this certain conditions like proper Knowledge of computer handling, minimum qualifying service, age limit and satisfactory records may be prescribed.

This will be a good service to the people.
